There are occasions that professional wrestlers have to use their skills off camera to protect themselves from fans and normal people. In 1995, Shawn Michaels hit on a woman who was dating a Marine at the time. The Marine and his friends attacked Michaels.
Roddy Piper was attacked by a man who stabbed him mere inches away from his heart. The man apparently trained his daughter to be a distraction while he went in for the attack.
Blassie claimed he was wounded after being stabbed at least 21 times in his career. There has been no corroboration of these incidents, but he did die claiming that it was true.
